Dr. Larry Kubiak received his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University in Minnesota with honors in psychology and his PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Florida. He currently serves as the Director of Psychological Services for the Tallahassee Memorial Behavioral Health Center, a not-for-profit 50 bed inpatient psychiatric hospital where he has conducted over 12,000 psychological evaluations in addition to participating in interdisciplinary team treatment planning and case staffing, has led well over 500 community and professional workshops as well as supervising doctoral level psychology students from Florida State University. He has also served as the neuropsychologist for the Memory Disorders Clinic at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and was involved in a five-year NIMH funded grant to study Alzheimer’s in elderly women.
Dr. Kubiak is an adjunct professor for the Counseling Psychology program at Florida State University. He is a member of the American Psychological Association as well as the Florida Psychological Association. He is a clinical member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology as well as a member and previous president of the neuropsychology division of the Florida Psychological Association. He served as president of the Florida Psychological Association in 2005 and has been recognized by that organization as a distinguished psychologist, was awarded the Michael B. Spellman award for ethical contributions to psychology, named the Psychologist of the Year in 2004 and in 2018 received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
He is an Eagle Scout, chair of the council National Eagle Scout Association committee and is a member of the Boy Scouts of America National Health and Safety Committee and is currently serving as chair of the mental health subcommittee.
He is a Past President for the Tallahassee Rotary club and received the Service Above Self award in 2012. He currently serves as District Governor for Area 6 and has been selected to serve as District Governor in 2021-22.
Larry is a consultant with the Kuwait Counseling Center and has presented several times in Kuwait.
