Assistant Professor of Psychology at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi
Teresa Arora is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. She holds a first class honors degree in Psychology and has a Masters degree in Health Psychology. She gained a PhD in Sleep Medicine from the University of Birmingham (UK) in 2012 and all of her research has focused on sleep behavior across the lifespan. She has worked with young children, healthy adults, clinical populations and older adults but her expertise lies in adolescent sleep and metabolic function. Dr Arora has experience of working with differing cultural groups including British, Chinese, Emiratis, Qataris, Americans and Australians. Dr Arora has been involved in many epidemiology studies and has also designed and conducted her own sleep experimental studies to assess disruptions to metabolic hormones associated with sleep alteration. She has won multiple awards for her work including multiple prestigious awards from the Sleep Research Society as well as the Association for the Study of Obesity. She has just been awarded a large grant to conduct a randomized controlled trial to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of a sleep improvement program in obese adults. Dr Arora is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society where she is also an Associate Fellow, recognized through her contributions to the field of sleep psychology.
