Dr. Youssef Akoury is a professor of Psychology with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. He teaches a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Department of Psychology at the Lebanese University. He is also the former head of the Psychology Department at the Lebanese University (2010 – 2014). Dr. Akoury is also a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) and a certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist and consultant. He is also a secretary and member of EMDR Lebanon. Dr. Akoury has studied the personality characteristics of bullied students in Lebanese schools. (2015). Also, his latest research (2018) was on addiction of which he developed an EMDR protocol based on follow up cases at a private clinic and a rehabilitation center. Dr. Akoury is also interested in projection tests used in drawing and in developing drawing as a therapeutic technique and using it with EMDR. One publication for Dr. Akoury is titled Psychological Diagnosis, Drawings and Analysis, which was published in Arabic in 2009.
