Heather D. Beister is a provisionally licensed professional counselor currently working for Corizon Health as contract staff for the Missouri Department of Corrections. Her focus for the last year has been providing counseling for individuals that have been housed in the segregation unit, some of which have been in the unit for over a year. The most often method utilized is CBT via worksheets, discussion, and empathy. Heather graduated from Central Methodist University in 2018 with her master’s degree in clinical counseling. She has spent most of her life in service to others starting as a volunteer at a nursing home when she was 12. This love of listening to others and trying to provide comfort, empathetic understanding, and support became the drive behind her ambitions. Heather’s goal is to obtain her PhD in International Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and provide counseling services globally.
