Vedrana Mladina, PhD, “Treating Trauma in the Context of Short Term”
Mariya Adams is a children’s community support supervisor at Burrell Behavioral Health in Springfield, Missouri. Mariya has worked extensively with children with PTSD, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and who have a history of sexual offenses. Mariya worked in various sites in the Middle East while employed by the Anglican Church and the American Department of Defense. Mariya also worked in Saltillo, Mexico as a teacher and counselor at the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila and Instituto Oxford. While in Saltillo, Mariya volunteered as a counselor at a domestic violence shelter as a children’s counselor. Mariya attended Missouri State University for undergraduate studies, Yale and Hartford Seminary for a Master’s in Islamic Studies with an emphasis in Islamic Law, Capella University for a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, and is currently attending The Chicago School of Professional Psychology for a PhD in International Psychology. Mariya is passionate about working with Mexican and Central American adolescents and young adults who have experienced trauma, especially unaccompanied minors migrating to the United States.
